Talking Gender and Identity on WPR's Open Spaces

Have you thought about what it means to grow up a girl in cowboy culture? It had its good points and, ahem, it's bad points.  But it's one of the reasons I'm a writer!

I had the distinct pleasure this weekend of talking with Wyoming Public Radio's Micah Schweizer on Open Spaces about growing up on a ranch and about gender and identity. Check it out!

I heard this interview while driving through the open spaces of the West on Sunday and was struck by what you said on many levels. Beyond your insight on the gender challenges, I keep thinking about what you said about ambivalence and perfectly that fits the challenges of living in this landscape. Thank you for giving me these pieces -- and your book - to help me understand this place.
